WriteGirl Alumna Reports on National Elections for The Huffington Post

You never know what will ultimately spark an unforgettable career in writing. For Ariel Edwards-Levy, WriteGirl was the catalyst.

Since graduating high school in 2007, Ariel received two degrees at USC and moved to Washington D.C to pursue a career in political journalism. However, her “very first experience with a newsroom was through WriteGirl.”

“A mentor allowed me to shadow her for a few days and helped me write my first article that appeared in print,” Ariel said. It wasn’t just confidence that WriteGirl provided her, but rather the means to make sure she pursued her passion –– writing.

As a reporter for The Huffington Post, she has worked on national elections and now adds overseeing the online newspaper’s polling in Washington, D.C., to her list of responsibilities. Most importantly, Ariel is part of The Huffington Post’s first all-female polling team.

"What I love most about my job is that I get to spend my day asking questions about a host of interesting topics and doing my best to share what I've learned with everyone else. The idea of a "national conversation" is incredibly cliched, but to the extent that one exists, I feel privileged to be a part of it."
