100 New Volunteers for Season 17

One hundred women writers have stepped forward to volunteer with WriteGirl for our upcoming 17th season of creative writing programs for teen girls. Women writers from poets to bloggers began their WriteGirl journey this month. They spent a full day with WriteGirl leaders, learning about the teenage brain, the WriteGirl feedback model and some of the magic elements that make WriteGirl work. Now in her eighth season with WriteGirl, Curriculum Manager Kirsten Giles made the day challenging and entertaining.

WriteGirl welcomes a record number of girls to Mentee Welcome Day

WriteGirl welcomed a record number of new and returning girls to the annual Mentee Welcome Day at Impact Hub in Downtown Los Angeles on Oct. 3. In total, 101 teen girls and 52 volunteer mentors set off on this season's WriteGirl journey with boarding passes and passports to a series of travel-themed writing activities created and MC'd by WriteGirl Curriculum Director Kirsten Giles.

Your creative spirits and insights are needed by teen girls in Los Angeles WriteGirl is a non-profit organization that empowers teen girls through creative writing and self-expression. Young writers receive creative techniques and insights through one-on-one mentoring, school programs and monthly workshops.
